Whitehorse, Yukon

The capital is also the only city in Yukon, and the largest in northern Canada. Miles Canyon’s basalt cliffs were the site of a Gold Rush camp beside the river. Visitors are interested to follow the Yukon River Loop to see the Whitehorse Fishway fish ladder during the salmon run, and the restored Yukon River sternwheeler S.S Klondike. Some take the plunge at the Takhini Hot Springs or browse the local history in the Old Log Church Museum, built in 1900. The White Pass and Yukon Railway linked Skagway to Whitehorse in 1900, and changed the economic picture dramatically.
