Ruins of an ancient temple overlooking the sea in Paphos, Cyprus, a port visited on an all-inclusive, luxury Seabourn cruise.

Paphos (Palaipafos), Cyprus

Fall under the spell of Paphos, birthplace of Aphrodite. This ancient seaport on Cyprus’s southwest coast offers so many delights, UNESCO designated the entire town a World Heritage site. Step right off the tender and into the sprawling Kato Paphos Archaeological Site, where four elaborate Roman villas were unearthed – along with some of the finest floor mosaics in the entire Mediterranean. Another must-do: wandering around the Doric columns and frescoed walls inside the Tombs of the Kings, subterranean burial chambers built for Ptolemaic aristocrats. If you’re feeling active, hike the dramatic Avakas Gorge lined with 100-foot-high limestone rock walls. Want to relax? Head to one of Paphos’ pristine white-sand beaches, or take a cruise out to the crystal Blue Lagoon. To catch the local vibe, head to a buzzy boardwalk café for a Brandy Sour and breathtaking views.
