Michael S. Teitelbaum is an historian and demographer at Harvard University, and has also been a professor at Oxford, Princeton and Yale. He was educated at Reed College in Oregon and at Oxford University in England, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
 

Outside of universities he was vice president of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, a prominent science-oriented philanthropy based in New York. Earlier he was director of a large U.S. congressional committee, vice chair and chair of the U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform, and an advisor to the Social Security Administration.
 

Michael has lectured around the world and has published ten books and numerous articles about the history, economics, politics and demography of multiple world regions, including Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. His publications have appeared in leading scientific journals such as Science as well as in more general publications such as the New York Times, The Atlantic and Foreign Affairs magazine.
