An awesome journey into the past, today's tour includes a panoramic drive to the ruined city of Pachacamac, whose name means 'the One who ordains the Universe'. The city was built around AD 700. You will explore the temple remains once dedicated to the ancient gods of the sun and the moon, and see evidence of a sophisticated irrigation and reservoir system. The ruins provide clues about the original inhabitants.
At a beautiful hacienda, the doors are open for you to enjoy its facilities. Tastefully built and decorated in Republican style, this is the private home of a distinguished Lima family. Over the years, the owners have become famous as expert breeders of the Caballo de Paso horses, a breed unique to Peru. Watch a traditional and colorful exhibition of Peruvian prancing horses known as the paso. You'll also enjoy a typical lunch at the hacienda.
Visit the Larco Herrera Museum, housed in an 18th-century colonial mansion. The museum hosts the most extensive collection of pre-Columbian art in Peru. It contains fine examples of textile work, one of which has a world record-breaking 398 threads per inch. Also on display are huaco ceramics, gold and silver pieces with semiprecious stones, and tools that ancient Peruvians used to produce metal instruments.
