A one-hour drive through scenic Provence brings you to the lovely village of Cassis, built in the 17th century upon ancient Greek and Roman ruins. Once an old fishing port, Cassis has now become a popular seaside resort. This quaint village lies in an attractive setting at the end of a bay, where the valley meets the sea.
The streets of the Old Town are lined with 17th- and 18th-century homes. The village is known for the quality of its seafood -- all kinds of delicacies can be purchased here and sea urchins with Cassis white wine are considered to be a local delicacy.
After your guided tour, enjoy some free time on your own to shop at the various arts and crafts stores and boutiques, or to enjoy refreshments at a café (at your own expense) before returning to the pier.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shopping is limited in villages outside of the main touristic season.
