Depart the pier by motor coach for a 1½ -hour drive through the scenic Provence countryside.
Arrive in delightful Aix-en-Provence, founded in 124 BC as a citadel and spa. Aix en Provence was the first Roman town in Gaul. Unfortunately, little remains from that period, but the town still manages to win the affection of today's visitors through its elegance and charm. The greatest treasures are the gracious 17th- and 18th-century mansions, narrow streets and quiet squares ornamented with handsome arcades and fountains.
Among the outstanding points of interest is the Cours Mirabeau, where the inhabitants never tire of wandering under a green arbor of the plane trees.
You will also see the area around the Sainte Sauveur Cathedral, and the Old Town.
This excursion offers you the option of taking a one-hour guided walking tour of the town or enjoying an hour of free time to browse in the local shops on your own before returning to the pier.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
