Devotees of The Godfather: Part III are sure to recognize many of the film's memorable sites on this tour of the Sicilian homeland of the notorious Corleone family. Your coach follows a scenic coastal route to the hillside village of Savoca where, in the movie, Michael proposed marriage to Apollonia.
In Savoca you will visit a private home that was the site for the film's Bar Vitelli. It still operates as a bar and houses a collection of memorabilia related to the film. Taste a granita here -- a beverage that this cherished by the locals.
Step inside the Cappuccini Church, whose crypt houses an eerie collection of 18th-century mummies. And from here, join your guide for a walking tour past 15th- and 16th-century churches to the summit above the town for panoramic views.
After your visit, enjoy a guided stroll along the village’s main street. Admire views of the valley before rejoining your motor coach for the approximately 30-minute journey to Fiumefreddo. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the private house of Barone Platania, called Il Castello degli Schiavi, which is known for being in The Godfather trilogy as the house where many scenes were shot, one of the most famous being in The Godfather Part I when Apollonia was murdered.
Please note: The catacombs are closed as the crypt is undergoing restoration; however, a limited number of mummies may be viewed in a separate room. Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered. Shorts are not allowed.
