Seville’s famous Plaza de La Maestranza is without a doubt one of the most outstanding bullrings in the world. Today's excursion introduces you to both the ring and the extraordinary museum contained within. It was built in the 18th century and harbors a rich and colorful history. A guided tour through the artifacts will give you a better understanding of the ritual and pomp surrounding the bullfighting tradition. From there, continue on to the hallowed Macarena Church, where the torero goes to pray before the fight for courage, safety and guidance. Of particular note is the tresor—the ornamentation—as well as the architecture itself. This tour is an excellent introduction to the rituals and history of this very controversial blood sport.
