Begin your day with a visit to the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, which affords beautiful views over Las Canteras Beach. Snap some photos before continuing to the charming town of Arucas -- known as the banana capital of Grand Canary.
Proceed to Teror to visit the Basilica de la Virgen del Pino (Madonna of the Pines). Located on the main plaza, this neo-Classical church is the third to be built on this site since the 15th century. Note the gargoyles standing watch around the walls; then, step inside and learn the origin of the basilica's name as you admire the impressive Baroque altar.
Enjoy lunch at Cruz de Tejeda -- the center point of the island. At an elevation of 3,280 feet, beautiful orchards and farms surround this small village.
Absorb the amazing mountain scenery en route to San Bartolome de Tirajana. Along the way, you'll pause for photos at Roque Nublo (the rock in the clouds). Upon arrival in San Bartolome, you'll have some free time to check out the viewpoint at Mirador de la Llegua, purchase a coffee from a local café (at your own expense), or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and scenery. On the return drive to the pier, you'll pass through the Fataga Valley and see the famous sand dunes of Maspalomas.
Please note: The route is winding and bumpy; guests who suffer from motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. It is recommended to bring any kind of light coat or cardigan, as the weather on the peak of the island tends to change drastically on short notice.
