"The Ligurian coast between Cinque Terre and Portovenere is a cultural landscape of great scenic and cultural value. The layout and disposition of the small towns and the shaping of the surrounding landscape, overcoming the disadvantages of a steep, uneven terrain, encapsulate the continuous history of human settlement in this region over the past millennium."
Depart by coach from Livorno pier to Manarola -- an enchanting village with a tiny and typical fishermen's wharf. You'll tour this village before you board a boat to reach Vernazza, a picturesque fishing village where you will enjoy some free time.
You will then proceed to Monterosso -- perhaps the prettiest village of the Cinque Terre. After a short tour of this interesting and picturesque village that closely hugs its small harbor, enjoy a taste of typical Cinque Terre products, bruschetta with olive oil and pesto and a glass of wine. You will then have some more free time to purchase lunch (at your own expense) and do some shopping.
Afterwards, meet your guide for a five-minute train transfer to Levanto, where a motorcoach will be waiting to drive you back to Livorno.
Please note: Bring credit cards and cash, as lunch is on your own. Boat transportation is weather dependent; in case of inclement conditions, a ride by local train will be substituted. The Cinque Terre is a popular destination; expect crowding in the villages. You will likely encounter a long line while waiting to board the boat; boarding is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. Terrain includes cobblestones, steep inclines and even surfaces.
