Today, you'll take a short drive into Tunis, the Tunisian capital, with impressive colonial-style boulevards. The bustling medina (Old Town) is the ancient heart of the city. Here, you'll encounter the market's sounds, sights and scents, where the presence of local crafts, spices, and textiles creates a culturally immersive experience. Take the time to haggle a little for a souvenir and enjoy the atmosphere of this treasure trove.
You'll stop at the Bardo Museum, housed in the 19th-century Palace of the Beys. The Bardo Museum is famous for its outstanding collection of mosaics, significant finds from the Phoenician/Roman settlement at Carthage, and early Christian and Muslim relics. Take a guided tour of the most important displays, including the Virgil room, housing a spectacular Roman mosaic from Sousse.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered; shorts and short skirts are not allowed. There are no elevators at the Bardo Museum. Most of the exhibits are on the second and third levels. A fee of €1 per camera is payable at the Bardo Museum. Tour does not operate on Mondays.
