Walk through the cobbled streets of Skiathos, where the musical Mamma Mia was filmed! Your Guide will share stories about everyday life in Greece and Skiathos’ history and stories of how they made the movie.
Leaving the pier, head towards the fish market located along the old port. The old port houses fishing, excursion boats and some yachts. The harbor is filled with taverns, cafeterias, and bars, several of which were decked with traditional table settings, colorful tablecloths and umbrellas, for the filming of Mamma Mia. This is where Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth arrive too late to catch the public ferry to the (fictional) Kalokairi island, but fortunately Stellan Skarsgard offers them a ride on a heavily loaded traditional kaiki!
From the fish market, walk up to the square of Agios Giannakis and along cobbled streets past old, traditional houses. After Agia Triada, proceed to Skiathitiko Spiti, a two-floor house built in 1910, residence of Papadopoulis' family, where you will travel in the past as you visit its open exhibition of traditional objects of Skiathos. At the end of your visit, a surprise homemade local delicacy will be offered.
Go past the Town Hall and head for the house of the famous Sciathitian writer, Alexandros Papadiamantis, nowadays a museum. After the visit, head towards the Clock Tower and the church of Agios Nikolaos, where you will enjoy views over the town. It is where Amanda Seyfried, having reached the mainland, posts the three letters inviting her potential parents to her wedding. Continue for the last stop at the monument of Papadiamantis on the islet of Bourtzi before you return to the ship.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
