Nestled in the Picos de Europa Mountains is the municipality of Covadonga, about a two-hour coach ride from Gijón.
Seven miles into the mountains, you will see the two glacial lakes of Covadonga -- Lagos Enol and Lagos Ercina -- at the center of the Picos de Europa National Park. Marvel at the serene, mirror-like waters and the surrounding scenery.
Check out the beautiful, pink-hued, twin-spired Basilica of Santa Maria la Réal. And its backdrop of a steep, green hillside.
Lunch is served at the Parador of Cangas before you return to Gijon.
