Enjoy a taste of Croatia with the chance to experience the true delicacies of the Dalmatian Coast -- mussels, oysters, and olive oil.
After a pleasant coach ride along the Adriatic coastline, your first stop will be in the village of Orasac. Here, olive oil is still produced the old-fashioned way, and the press is driven by a horse. You will be invited to taste some of the olive oil along with a snack of homemade cheese, smoked ham, and wine. Step inside the old house, which has not appreciably changed since its original construction.
Next, continue towards the small town of Ston -- the oyster capital of Croatia. This tiny town is often called the "little Dubrovnik," as it too is surrounded by magnificent walls dating back to 1317 and completed in the 16th century. It is one of the longest defensive walls in the world.
You will continue to Mali Ston and board a local boat that will take you to oyster and mussel beds. Your host will welcome you aboard and introduce you to the oyster and mussel farming industry in this area. Taste freshly harvested shellfish straight from the water.
Upon returning to Mali Ston, you will visit the charming Kapetanova Kuca Tavern where lunch is served, consisting of seafood specialties (seafood risotto or seafood pasta).
Return to Dubrovnik, where you can visit the Old Town on your own or return directly to the pier.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Not suitable for those with an allergy to seafood. Terrain includes flat, smooth, and uneven surfaces that can be slippery, with a number of steps. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes.
