Old Town of Corfu
The Old Town of Corfu, on the Island of Corfu off the western coasts of Albania and Greece, is located in a strategic position at the entrance of the Adriatic Sea, and has its roots in the 8th century BC. The mainly neoclassical housing stock of the Old Town is partly from the Venetian period, partly of later construction, notably the 19th century. As a fortified Mediterranean port, Corfu's urban and port ensemble is notable for its high level of integrity and authenticity.
Leave the port and head to Paleokastritsa. This is perhaps the most picturesque resort area on the island, with its fine beaches, wooded hills and crystal-clear, sheltered bays pierced by black rocks.
You will also stop at Kanoni, where the old cannons are still in position. Take in the magnificent view across the bay to the convent of Vlacherna and Mouse Island.
In Corfu Town, step inside the Church of St Spiridon, which contains a priceless collection of icons.
A walk along narrow streets past balconied houses and Parisian archways brings you to the Town Hall and Cricket Square -- the epicenter of life in Corfu today.
Please Note: This tour does not include a swimming stop. This tour is a panoramic tour of Corfu, including free time in the Old Town. Please remember to take EUR with you as these are required for the public restrooms.
