Costiera Amalfitana
The Amalfi coast is an area of great physical beauty and natural diversity. It has been intensively settled by human communities since the early Middle Ages. There are a number of towns such as Amalfi and Ravello with architectural and artistic works of great significance. The rural areas show the versatility of the inhabitants in adapting their use of the land to the diverse nature of the terrain, which ranges from terraced vineyards and orchards on the lower slopes to wide upland pastures.
Step aboard a motor launch at the pier and set out on an unforgettable cruise to, a picturesque coastal town where white Moorish-style houses cling to the slopes around a small sparkling bay. Once a fishing village, Positano has become a retreat for the wealthy and is now a popular resort area. Artists also appreciate the intimate setting and exquisite scenery.
Enjoy some browsing at Positano's boutiques, perhaps picking up an item or two of the casual cotton clothing for which this town is noted.
Reboard the launch and head further down the Amalfi Coast to the enchanting village of Amalfi -- its white houses perch on the rocks overlooking a bright blue bay. Flanked by an old Saracen tower and a 12th-century Capuchin monastery, Amalfi boasts a splendid cathedral adorned with geometric designs in colored stones. Your guide will lead you to St Andrew's Cathedral and provide an introduction to the town before you're set loose to explore on your own.
Following your free time, you'll return to the ship.
Please note: The motorboat does not operate in November; minibus transportation by road will be substituted. Although the vessel is filled to a certain load capacity to give extra space for Seabourn Guests, it is not large enough to accommodate all guests on the open deck at once. Therefore, it is recommended to switch seating on the return trip in order ensure all guests have the option of having open deck seating for the tour. In the case of any operational issues with the pier in Positano, a public ferry will be used as a replacement vessel and guests will be notified in advance by the onboard Destinations Team. Amalfi and Positano can be quite busy in the season due to its popularity and become a bit congested at times, especially around the pier area, which can possibly result in minor delays with the vessel traffic.
