Go beyond the ordinary with a trip to Norman Island, on the southern tip of the British Virgin Islands. Here you’ll not only see the inspiration for a famous book, you’ll have the chance to snorkel at one of the best spots in the world.
Start your adventure by boarding a twin-engine launch and enjoy a scenic 35-minute ride across the Sir Francis Drake Channel. An experienced snorkel instructor leads you to the legendary uninhabited Norman Island, immortalized in Robert Louis Stevenson's famous book, Treasure Island.
When you arrive, at Norman Island, take in this captivating and uninhabited paradise. The stunning coastal views, tranquil anchorages, and legendary tales of hidden pirate treasure will make it truly enchanting.
From here, snorkel in pristine surroundings at the Indians or the Caves at Treasure Point, where pirate treasure is said to have been hidden. The caves are spectacular for snorkeling with coral and red sponge covering the walls. Take the vast variety of fish swimming beneath you.
Next, relocate to a second site for more swimming and snorkeling in shallower water before you return to Jost van Dyke.
Please note: Minimum age is 6 years. Alternative snorkel sites may be selected depending on sea and weather conditions. Masks, snorkels, fins and snorkel vests are provided as well as instruction for novices. Actual snorkel time is approximately 1½ hours. Wear your swimsuit; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat. Guests with heart conditions, epilepsy, diabetes or asthma are not allowed to participate in snorkeling. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. Maximum weight is 280 lbs.
