On today's adventure, visit two of America's National Treasures -- the John F. Kennedy Library & Museum and Peacefield. The former is perhaps the nation's most popular presidential library, while the latter was the home and library of John Adams and John Quincy Adams. A visit to these key presidential sites peels back an important layer of Massachussetts' role in the political history of the USA.
At the JFK Library & Museum, relax in the comfort of the theater for a 17-minute introductory film narrated in part by JFK. Incorporating historic television footage and cherished family home movies, this film provides the background, family and political accomplishments of the Camelot legend.
You will have time to independently explore the museum. Stand in a recreation of the Oval Office, experience the drama of President Kennedy's historic address to the nation on Civil Rights, and capture the inspirational spirit of the space program.
The nearby town of Quincy was the birthplace of the father and son presidential duo -- John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Visit the old house lovingly referred to by John Adams as Peacefield. This elegant plantation residence was home to four generations of the Adams family. First occupied by John Adams in 1788, it once served as the summer White House and is filled with original furniture and paintings treasured by him. A US Park Service Ranger guide will provide a fascinating guided tour of the two floors of this home and family library and offer a historical perspective of the vast accomplishments of these two great men.
