Head out from the port along the Otago Peninsula -- a narrow and hilly stretch of land that shelters Otago Harbour from the Pacific Ocean.
Standing atop a wooded hill, Larnach Castle is set on 35 acres of green land and gardens. This residence, built in 1871, is a marvelously eclectic conglomeration of architectural styles. Enjoy a guided tour of this historic home before a delicious Devonshiretea (scones with jam and cream) is served in the ballroom.
View the castle's Garden of International Significance, which has been expertly cultivated for more than 40 years. Stroll through the Lost Rock Garden, the Serpentine Walk, the Rain Forest and the South Seas Garden.
