Here's an exciting opportunity to take part in a true wildlife-viewing experience. Depart from the pier and transfer to Dar es Salaam Airport for a light aircraft flight to the Nyerere National Park. Take in the spectacular aerial views of the Tanzanian countryside en route.
Upon your arrival at Nyerere National Park, a local safari guide greets you. You'll board a 4-wheel-drive safari vehicle and enjoy the thrill of observing Tanzania's stunning variety of wildlife in its natural habitat. Nyerere National Park is one of Africa's largest game reserves and, during your game drive, you may be lucky enough to see elephants, lions, Cape buffalo, hippopotamus and a wide variety of birds. All vehicles feature an open hatch, allowing for easy viewing.
You'll stop at a picnic site for to enjoy a boxed lunch. Continue with an afternoon game drive in the Nyerere National Park.
In the late afternoon, you'll return to the airstrip for a flight back to Dar es Salaam and a transfer back to the ship.
Please note:
There is a rustic restroom available at the picnic lunch stop. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring a hat and wear sunscreen. Bring bottled water and binoculars. Tour requires a minimal amount of walking with some uneven terrain and unpaved surfaces at the Nyerere National Park, narrow steps to (dis)embark the aircraft and the 4-wheel drive safari vehicles. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking, as the walk is uphill, over unpaved, rough walking tracks with many steps. A vegetarian picnic lunch is available upon request with one week's advance notice. Do not take photos of police officers or military personnel; ask before taking a photo of a local person. You must obtain a yellow fever certificate prior to travel.
