Get to know Toyama’s culture and tradition through on this unique experience.
Depart the pier and set off for the Nousaku Factory where you will see how 100% tin products are made. Witness the craftsmanship, feel the heat and smell distinctive aroma of molten metal while your guide explains the casting techniques that have been cultivated over 400 years in Takaoka City.
After your factory visit, try your hand at tin casting in the workshop using sand casting, a traditional casting method. Create your own original 100% tin shot glass as a special memento to take home.
With your new shot glass in hand, head to a local Sake brewery for a tour and tasting. The plastered walls, tiled roof and brick chimneys are all engraved with the history of Wakatsuru sake, famous throughout the country.
The last stop of the day will be Zuiryuji Temple, a Soto Zen Buddhist temple recognized by the Japanese government as a national treasure. The buildings of Zuiryuji are influenced by Chinese architectural styles of the Kamakura Period. Enter the temple grounds through the beautiful Somon Gate and discover seven halls arranged symmetrically and connected by wooden, roofed corridors.
After visiting this beautiful temple, return to the pier.
