Discover the architectural marvels of Abu Dhabi, capital of the Emirates.
Your first destination is the newly-opened Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, designed as a seemingly floating dome structure. The Louvre Abu Dhabi's galleries tell the story of humanity in twelve inspiring chapters. Each chapter focuses on shared themes and ideas that reveal common connections throughout humanity. The works on show range from prehistoric artifacts to contemporary artworks and come from the museum's own collection. There are also many masterpieces on loan from some of the most renowned French museums.
Next visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque -- a dream project of the UAE's late President, Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan. This 241,000-square-foot structure, built at a cost of more than US$500 million, is already an icon. It encapsulates the character of the modern UAE society and brilliantly combines resources and materials from all around the world.
Continue through the city to reach the breakwater where you'll stop to take photos of the iconic Emirates Palace Hotel.
A leisurely panoramic drive along the tower-lined Corniche brings you back to the port.
