This slow-paced stroll with the Expeditions Team and a local guide is designed to allow you time to experience and enjoy the Botanical Gardens of Rio de Janeiro. Founded in 1808, the gardens were intended for acclimating exotic species of commercial value to the Brazilian tropics. With a collection of more than six thousand species from all over the world, as well as abundant birdlife, this is the ideal place to learn about local flora and fauna and the history of the gardens.
You'll also stop at a souvenir shop before you head back to the ship.
Please note:
Limited walking is required on mostly even, flat surfaces. Temperatures and humidity will be high, dress for warm weather with cool fabrics that protect your skin from sunburn and insects. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water and insect repellent. Bring a waterproof jacket and suitable camera protection, as rainstorms often occur unexpectedly. Minimum age is 6 years. Tour operates rain or shine, but may be cancelled in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions.
