More than 40,000 restaurants across Peru reflect the diversity of a nation that mixes native culinary traditions with the cuisines of Europe, Arabia, China, Africa and Japan. The result is a collection of unique flavors that make Peruvian cuisine exciting and varied. People of all races call themselves Peruvians and impact the local culture and cuisine with their own unique accents and flavors. The land has taught Peruvians generosity by placing endless delicacies within easy reach.
First, stop at the Minka Market and visit the fish section early in the morning to see fish, octopus and shrimp fresh from the briny sea. Have a look at some of the native fruits and vegetables of Peru -- pitless mini-avocados, lucuma, chirimoya, and a variety of potatoes.
You’ll drive to Miraflores to enjoy a cooking demonstration and lunch at Señorio de Sulco. This elegant restaurant is located at the northern extreme of the Miraflores district and takes a thoughtful approach to traditional Peruvian cooking. It features several dining rooms, including a piano bar and an enclosed terrace that overlooks the coast.
Later, stop by the Queirolo Tavern for a Peruvian-style ham sandwich snack and a taste of Pisco -- the National Beverage -- before heading back to Callao.
Please note: This tour includes a meal -- lunch on daytime tours, or dinner on evening tours
