The Harbour is a vibrant hub of fishing vessels and yachts throughout the year, along with the multi colored rows of sea front houses, giving it a most attractive appearance. Owing to its beautiful location and multi-colored houses, Tobermory was selected for the award-winning Children’s T.V. program, Balamory. The theme of the program was based around what happens in and around each colored house! Your guide will share aspects of history, ancient and modern, as you walk the sea front.
At the end of the town, you will reach the lifeboat station and ferry pier. From here, head into the woodland with glimpses of the sea and shore before the views open out with vistas over to Kilchoan and Ardnamurchan on mainland Great Britain.
The lighthouse was designed by the Stevenson family and was first established in 1857. The light – which stands on top of a 19m tower – is automated but was manned until 1960. Enjoy the view and take photos and then retrace your steps back to Tobermory.
