"La Grand-Place in Brussels is a remarkably homogeneous body of public and private buildings, dating mainly from the late 17th century. The architecture provides a vivid illustration of the level of social and cultural life of the period in this important political and commercial center." En route to Brussels, you'll stop at the Atomium Statue for photos -- it was built for the World Fair in 1958.
In the city center, watch for the Chinese Pavilion, the Japanese Tower and the Royal Castle of Laeken (residence of the King and Queen). Both the Chinese Pavilion and the Japanese Tower are undergoing some construction works. They will take an alternative route as both are in scaffolding.
Leave the coach near the Central Station for a walk through the Old Town area to admire the St Hubert Arcades of shops and Butchers' Street with its restaurants and cafés.
A few blocks away is the Grand Place. This is the city's main square and it features Baroque guildhouses and the Town Hall. Brussels' Grand Place is often called the most beautiful market square in the world.
You will meet Manneken Pis -- Brussels' best-known little boy in the form of a statue. Enjoy some free time around the Grand Place to shop for the perfect Belgian souvenir -- chocolates, lace, tapestries -- or sit down at a café to sample one of the many kinds of beers brewed in Belgium (at your own expense).
On the way back to Antwerp, you will see the Royal Palace, the European Parliament, the Cinquantenaire arcade built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Belgium.
