Vulci was a leading Etruscan city, later conquered by the Romans. The archaeological park includes a vast rural and natural territory along the Fiora river – therefore hiking in the Vulci park is an enriching experience. The setting provides a breathtaking view: from the canyon carved by the water of river Fiora over the centuries to the landscape of the Maremma Laziale, flowing through the exuberant vegetation where wildlife is abundant. The excavations of the Etruscan then Roman settlement are surrounded by natural wonders allowing visitors to explore the local heritage in a flourishing garden.
During spring and summer very busy swifts, bee-eaters and other birds fill the silence with their calls.
Given the extension of the large archaeological area, your tour includes a hike to a portion of the Etruscan and Roman excavations till the wild Fiora river, one of the best-preserved rivers in central Italy. Your guide will accompany you to the small lake created by the natural bent of the river and to the Roman mitreum. After your historical and natural hike resume the walk to the bus. During the drive you will also see the ancient Badia Castle and the Etruscan bridge.
