You may prefer to simply stroll in the square and admire the designer boutiques, or try your luck with the slot machines at the Café de Paris Casino.
A guided walking tour leads you up the hill and through the narrow streets, past the Oceanographic Museum and the cathedral containing the tombs of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier.
Between July and Mid-October, the Prince's Palace is open to the public and you will step inside for an interior visit, followed by some free time to explore on your own. Admire the exterior façade as your guide describes the palace and the lives of those who occupy it.
Guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. The Monte Carlo Casino opens for gaming at 2pm. Casino entrance fee is €17 per person. There is an additional fee to enter the private gaming rooms. Guests who wish to visit the casino on their own must bring their passport for ID. There is no entrance fee for the Cafe de Paris Casino. Minimum age to enter the casino is 18 years. Modest attire is required for visiting churches or cathedrals; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered; shorts and jeans are not allowed. The Prince's Palace is closed between Mid-October and the end of June; additional free time in Old Monaco will be substituted. There may be a wait at the designated bus pick-up point after the visit to the Casino Square. Casino Square is reached by means of public elevators; however, sometimes the elevators are not working and you must be able to negotiate approximately 100 steps to reach Casino Square. Tour requires uphill walking.
