Whether Bonifacio is approached from the east or from the west, this medieval city is a Land’s End -- completely isolated from the rest of the island on a vast and arid limestone plateau.
The cliffs of Bonifacio are inextricably linked with the town's identity. From the Saint-Roch Chapel to the Pertusato semaphore, you'll follow on foot the path meandering along the 200-foot-tall cliffs. These form part of the Bouches de Bonifacio International Marine Park offering a remarkable view of the town and the Strait of Bonifacio.
Take a boat trip to discover the grottos that pepper the cliff face, including the Sdragonato sea grotto. Don't miss the famous King of Aragon Staircase, carved into the cliff face -- a grudging monument to monarch who almost captured the town.
A mini-train on wheels will take you on a tour of Bonifacio. You'll visit the citadel and the old Genoese quarter. Head to the marine cemetery located on the top of the clifftops with an impressive view across the straits of Bonifacio to Sardinia only eight miles away.
In the heart of the Old Town, walk through the typical narrow streets to discover, around each corner, churches, monuments and curiosities dating back to the 16th century.
The train drops you back on the waterfront. Guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore on their own are welcome to do so, but must return to the ship on their own.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
