Explore some of Dominica’s distinctive destinations via air-conditioned motor coach, with the help of a friendly and knowledgeable guide. This captivating journey through lush and biodiverse havens includes a look at vibrant flora and fauna, cascading waterfalls, and the enchanting melodies of exotic birds.
Start your adventure at the pier, driving through the bustling streets of Roseau to Morne Bruce for a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings from an elevation of 400 feet. Snap some photos from this scenic vantage point.
Continue along to explore the 20-acre, beauty-packed gem known as the Botanic Gardens. You will see Dominica's National Bird (the Sisserou parrot) and some of the island's tallest trees. Hurricane Maria has altered the gardens to her liking, and it's not hard to spot Hurricane David's signature -- the twisted remains of a large bus crushed beneath a massive baobab tree. Nonetheless, the gardens are steadily recovering, and your patronage is greatly appreciated by the Dominican people.
Next, travel through Roseau and up the Springfield Valley, with jagged cliffs rearing up beside you. Arrive at Trois Pitons National Park, where a fifteen-minute walk through the rain forest brings you to an enchanting 50-foot waterfall that cascades down to fill the Emerald Pool.
Proceed along to the Layou Valley, passing banana and citrus plantations en route to a local restaurant where you'll enjoy a refreshing beverage before returning to the ship.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. The route is winding. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication.
