Welcome to St. George’s, where captivating exploration happens around every corner. Between the colonial architecture, historic sites, and vibrant culture, it all comes together to weave a narrative of the city’s rich culture heritage. Today your journey is a two-hour guided panoramic drive through St. George's to discover Grenada.
You'll leave from the Melville Street Port, driving through the town of St. George's over Old Fort Road, and head up to Morne Jaloux Ridge. It will be hard to miss Fort Frederick en route – this well-preserve bastion of the Caribbean sits on rolling mountain ridges and played a big part in the French and British struggle for control of the island.
Continue over Morne Jaloux Ridge, through Woburn and the Grand Anse Valley to True Blue. This is where the St. George's University is located. This distinguished institution attracts students from all over the world, providing a unique opportunity to learn in a tropical setting.
From True Blue, it's not far to the Point Salines International Airport, built in 1979 by the Cubans but completed in 1984 by the British and Americans -- a truly multinational project. Here, you'll pause for refreshments.
Your drive continues through Morne Rouge to Grand Anse. Stop at Quarantine Point for photos. This lovely grassy area at the end of the peninsula provides beautiful views over the water and is the perfect place to take photos.
Then, head back to the port via the picturesque Carenage Harbor area.
Please note: Very little walking is required.
