Take a short shuttle transfer to the top of Signal Hill -- the starting point for an approximately two-mile guided hike that is all about spectacular panoramic views of the coastal landscape. Below you is the captivating scene of one of Canada's busiest working ports.
Descending almost 500 feet in elevation to sea level, you'll admire the harbor narrows and the Atlantic Ocean, smell the briny air and hear the song of gulls wheeling overhead. You'll see many varieties of wildflowers and berry bushes as well as a multitude of different birds, from small songbirds and seabirds to the mighty bald eagle.
Head back toward the ship on foot via the New World's first European street. The tour ends at Harbourside Park, just 350 yards from the ship, with a wealth of local art and craft galleries nearby. Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: Terrain includes stairs, rough ground, very steep inclines, uneven surfaces, many loose rocks, more than 300 wooden steps, and high cliffside trails. Some sections of the trail are narrow and adjacent to steep drops. Not suitable for those with vertigo or a fear of heights. Participants must be physically fit in order to participate. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking. There is no restroom on the coastal trail. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Transportation is by basic school bus.
