Experience the splendor of French Canada's countryside as you drive through the foothills of the Laurentian Mountains to the renowned Lac-Beauport area.
You'll stop en route at the spectacular Montmorency Falls. Enjoy a cable car ride and snap a few photos here. Cascading down a 272-foot cliff, Montmorency Falls is 1.5 times higher than Niagara Falls. The powerful forces of nature are quite impressive as the water of the Montmorency River roars down the cliff to eventually meet with the St Lawrence River. Take a few moments to enjoy the view of the falls from the panoramic terraces, step inside the Visitor Center, or shop in the gift boutiques.
Continue your journey to either Lac-Beauport -- a sparkling lake surrounded by emerald forest -- or take a step back in time as you cross the bridge to the Île d'Orléans (Island of Orléans) with its picturesque villages and pastoral farmland. Passing the tip of the island, you will see the lovely 19th-century resort homes of Québec's wealthy merchants and spectacular views of the skyline of Québec City. You will visit an authentic sugar shack in a region well-known for its production of maple syrup. There's no better place to learn about the production of maple products and sample sweet maple taffy, apple pie, and coffee .
Please note: The decision as to whether the excursion will visit Lac-Beauport or Ile d'Orleans is made based on traffic and other conditions on the day. To avoid tour delays on some dates, tea and a snack may be served at Montmorency Manor instead of apple pie and coffee at the Sugar Shack.
