In Vietnamese culture, creating a delicious meal does not end with the cooking; food presentation is an important part of the culinary experience, too. Learn this tantalizing and visually-stunning culinary art, taking lessons from an expert chef.
Transfer by motorcoach to the Central Post Office, where you'll step into a pedicab for a ride to the famous Ben Thanh Market. One of the icons of the city, this bustling center of haggle-driven commerce has long been an extravaganza of noise and color.
Meet the chef from the luxury Rex Hotel here, and together, you will venture through narrow aisles crowded with vendors hawking their wares. Handicrafts, textiles, áo dài (the Vietnamese national costume), and delicious local cuisine -- take your pick! The chef grabs up all the items you'll need for your cooking lesson before you ride to the Rex Hotel by coach.
Against a backdrop of high-end elegance, the chef conducts a culinary art workshop that takes you step-by-step through the process of carving food into lovely and intricate shapes and designs that please not only the palate but also the eye. You'll practice constructing artful delicacies from seafood, pork, chicken and vegetables. As you fashion food into art, peel the skin of a tomato and roll it into a delicate rosebud, or transform a slice of cucumber into a graceful design of curls and spikes. Then, it's time to sit down and enjoy the results of your lesson -- beautiful food that is delicious.
