Board a local charter boat at the pier and begin your day with a journey to Lokobe National Park. You're headed along the east coast of Nosy Be, skirting the Lokobe evergreen forest.
Upon arrival, you'll walk with your guide into the old-growth forest. Keep an eye out for boa constrictors, green geckos, rock lizards, chameleons (good luck spotting them!), and black and brown lemurs.
Back at the beach, you'll pause for refreshments and some free time to relax and enjoy the beach. A folkloric performance introduces you to local rhythms.
Hop back in the boat and return to Andoany.
Please note:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, a cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. The transfer from pier to Lokobe is by local boat with a wet landing; wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet. Maximum weight is 330 lbs.The standard of transportation and level of guide experience may vary. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here and guides are often in training -- you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up.
