Celebrate the culture, heritage and future of Qatar and its people, embodying the pride and traditions of Qataris while offering international visitors a dialog about rapid change and modernization. This tour showcases highlights such as Qatar's newest National Museum and the famous Souq Waqif market.
Enjoy a panoramic drive through the famous Al Bandar quarter with a chance to take photos of the famous Doha skyline.
Souq Waqif literally means 'standing market'. It is the very site where the Bedouin -- the nomads who inhabited in the Arabian deserts -- sold or bartered their wool and animals. Today, the souq is renowned for selling traditional Qatari garments, spices, handicrafts and souvenirs. More recently, the talent of local Qatari artists has risen to prominence and the souq has become a hot spot for art galleries and workshops.
The heartbeat of Qatari heritage is alive and well at the recently-opened National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), bringing to life the story of Qatar and its people. It actively gives voice to the nation's rich heritage and culture and demonstrates the extensive network of ties with other countries and peoples around the world. This vibrant and immersive space is where you will experience Qatar's past, present and future.
Please note:
Dress conservatively, shoulders and knees and midriffs must be covered. You must ask the locals prior to taking their photo (men in white and ladies in black). Don't take photos of police officers or military personnel. US dollars (bills only; no coins) are accepted at the souq -- small to medium denominations are recommended.
