Situated approximately 2 hours from the pier, Ndemban offers guests the opportunity to dive deep into local life and immerse themselves into the rhythm of life in a typical Jola village.
Upon arrival at Ndemban, we will have traditional welcoming from the villagers and proceed to greet the Alkalo (village head) to learn about his responsibilities, functions and how one can become a chief in the traditional community.
We then make a short visit to home stay compound, a new eco lodging in the community before proceeding to visit the women’ vegetable garden. We then move into the village setting to experience a number of activities. These include taking part in basket weaving, salt processing, joining the women group for cooking and visiting the fortuneteller.
Enjoy a traditional home cooked meal with light refreshment by the Creek and for those who wish, you are welcome to take part in the preparation of brewing some afternoon ‘’ ATTAYA’’ (Chinese Green Tea, Gambia’s most popular tea drink especially after lunch). On our return journey, we will stop briefly at the wood factory in Brikama to see the professional woodcarvers in action. We then join our vehicle to head back to the pier.
