Depart the pier and travel the approximately 90-minutes to the Giant’s Causeway via the inland route.
At the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre, meet your National Trust tour guide and take your first steps onto the spectacular Causeway. This geological wonder, with its 40,000 basalt stone columns, was created by volcanic eruptions about 60 million years ago…Or was it built by warring giants? You’ll hear both sides of the story, so you can decide for yourself.
Discover the sites geological history and be entertained by local myths and legends including the one about homegrown giant Finn McCool. On this easy-going stroll you will be immersed in nature as you inhale the fresh sea air and listen to the sounds of birdlife.
As you make your way along the Causeway, meet your Bushmills Whiskey expert, who will explain the history and the methods used in the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world, dating back to 1608. Take a seat on rocks as their 12-Year-Old Distillery Reserve is poured. This whiskey is exclusively available at the Distillery and cannot be bought online. You will receive one miniature bottle to take home. Your guide will talk you through the tastes and smells to pick up on as you raise a toast to the giants and take a sip of warming whiskey.
All too soon, you will leave the rocks behind and re-join your vehicle for the return journey to the pier.
Please note: This tour is nonrefundable within 72 hours of the port of call. Minimum age is 18 years. Tour sequence may vary. After the 'whiskey on the rocks' experience, the tour ends at the visitor center. Refreshments are available for purchase at the cafe in the Giants Causeway Visitors Centre.
