Board your coach and enjoy scenic drive through Sibenik to the Barone Fortress where you will have opportunity to see Sibenik from the top. Barone Fortress was built in 1646 on Vidakuša, the 80-meter-high hill above the city. Along with the other three fortresses in Sibenik, it represents a unique defense system which resisted the enemies of the city for centuries. Today, it has an exceptional monumental value recognized across Europe.
Enjoy in a nice view before you continue to the drive to St. Michael’s Fortress. The fortress is located on a strategically extremely favorable position, halfway between the antique center Zadar and Split, in the protected mouth of the Krka River and near all the important transportation roads in Dalmatia. St. Michael’s Fortress is of paramount importance for the history and urban development of Sibenik. It was originally built as a lookout of the Sibenik bay and the mouth of the Krka River, and as a refuge for the surrounding population. During the medieval times, the fortress became a source point of the defense fortification system of walls and fortresses of Sibenik. After sightseeing of Fortress spend some free time in Sibenik before you turn back to the ship.
