Your visit today will begin with the most famous temple of the Ancient City -- the Parthenon -- dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of Athens.
Walking up a winding path towards the Acropolis, you will pass through the Propylaea, and see the Erechtheum temple and the Porch of the Caryatids in the distance. Reinforced by the hand of man, the natural fortress of the Acropolis stands 230 feet above the city. You cannot help but be in awe of the view below.
Next up is the incredible New Acropolis Museum. For the first time ever, all the surviving treasures of the Acropolis can be seen together in one place. Works previously held in storage are on display, including finds from the Acropolis, the post-Parthenon and Roman Periods, and the excavation site when the new museum was built. The original Caryatids from the Temple of Athena Nike are on display here. But perhaps the highlight is the display of the Parthenon Frieze, which is located on the top floor. This is brilliantly laid out in the footprint of its original size, affording visitors an impression of its might.
Take a scenic drive through Athens. Along the way, watch for the Parliament building, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the stadium used for the modern Olympics.
Your tour ends with a transfer to the airport or a downtown drop-off.
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight or to the Hotel Grande Bretagne.
Please note: This tour is available only to guests whose cruise ends in Piraeus with flights departing after 4pm and for guests disembarking in Piraeus bound for the Seabourn contracted hotel of Hotel Grande Bretagne. The latter will be dropped off at the hotel after the tour at no additional cost; please see the Destinations team on board to confirm. Tour requires a considerable amount of walking with an uphill climb to the Parthenon. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, gravel, grass, and more than 80 steps. The marble steps are slippery, especially when it rains. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Expect dense crowding at the site. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. Tour does not operate on Mondays.
