Phuket's Big Buddha is one of the most important and revered landmarks on the island. This huge image sits atop Nakkerd Hill. It is a reinforced concrete structure adorned with white Burmese jade. The lofty site offers fantastic 360-degree views of the island, with sweeping vistas of Phuket Town, Kata, Karon beaches and Chalong Bay.
Wat Chalong, the largest temple found on Phuket Island and is a favorite with the local people. The temple complex was built in 1837. Some remains of older structures have been found here. The large grounds of Wat Chalong contain many buildings, of which the most visited are viharn and chedi. The viharn contains statues of three revered monks. They are covered with gold leafs placed there by local people to pay their respects. The sacred relic -- a fragment of a bone of the Buddha -- was brought over from Sri Lanka and is kept inside a glass case on top of the 196-foot-tall chedi.
Visit Hanuman World to complete the 250-yard Skywalk. This walkway is elevated 150 feet off the ground and provides great views across the forest canopy. Along the way, feel free to hug a massive 100-year-old tree, and chill out with a fresh fruit juice at the high-rise bar. Relax on a big cushion and take in the ambience.
Enjoy a Thai lunch, with beer or a soft drink, in the heart of Phuket's rain forest setting at Hanuman World. Shop for local souvenirs before returning to the pier.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
