Drive one hour north from Hakodate to the Onuma area. Onuma is known for its three lakes -- Lake Onuma, Lake Konuma and Lake Junsai. Lake Onuma was formed when Mt Komagatake erupted, and the lava flow from the mountain dammed the river, creating the lake.
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Onuma Quasi-National Park with a walking tour led by a knowledgeable nature guide. Onuma Quasi-National Park is the birthplace of Hokkaido's resort industry and the ideal place to connect with the island's natural environment. There are multiple small islands on Lake Onuma. An approximately two-hour hike along a road allows you to walk from island to island by crossing the bridges. Traverse the tranquil paths winding around the majestic Onuma and Konuma lakes, marveling at the reflection of towering mountains in their pristine waters. Delve into the rich biodiversity of the park as your guides share fascinating insights into the flora and fauna that call this natural wonderland home. Capture unforgettable moments amidst the idyllic scenery, where every step unveils a new vista of Hokkaido Prefecture's captivating wilderness.
