Exciting, exhilarating, memorable -- welcome to Expedition Experiences by Seabourn. Zodiac, kayaking or hiking activities enable you to experience the wonders of nature up close; in-depth cultural, ethnographic and archaeological discoveries connect you to the human and natural history of Seabourn's world. Each Expedition is expertly planned, professionally operated, and escorted by skilled expedition staff.
Join the Expedition team today for a moderate-to-strenuous hike that will take you into Alaska's temperate rain forest. Travel by car to the head of the Rainbow Trail, not far from Wrangell. The entire hike is along a manmade boardwalk that winds through incredible forest scenery. The first quarter mile is along mostly flat terrain with a short series of steps. The trail crosses a beautiful creek and, from there, approximately 820 steps of varying heights lead upwards to the magnificent Rainbow Falls. Your guide ensures that you appreciate both the natural history and the human history of the region.
Please note: Dress warmly in layers with a wind- and waterproof outer layer; bring gloves, a scarf and a warm hat. Bring a backpack to stow any layers you shed. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Wear sunglasses and biodegradable sunscreen; bring insect repellent. Bring binoculars. Walking poles are provided. Total distance covered on hike is 1.2 miles (2 km) with an elevation gain of 800 feet (245 m). Minimum age is 9 years. A maximum of 20 guests ensures a quality hiking and interpretive experience. Tour operates rain or shine, but may be cancelled by the operator in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions.
