View Alaska's magnificent wildlife with breathtaking photo opportunities as you travel with engaging naturalists through the Valley of the Eagles. Nestled between rugged glaciers and snowcapped mountains, the fertile Chilkoot Valley is home to generations of brown bears, bald eagles, mountain goats, harbor seals, spawning salmon and numerous birds.
Powerful spotting scopes may provide close-up views of mountain goats in high alpine meadows, bears along the riverbanks, and bald eagles in active nests. You can take photos
through the scopes with small digital cameras, smart phones and pads. Colorful harlequin ducks, marbled murrelets, loons, surf scooters, porpoises, seals and whales are among the seasonal wildlife highlights.
On the shore of a picturesque lake, experience the living tapestry within the rain forest on a refreshing nature walk beneath magnificent trees and through an ancient muskeg.
Your tour concludes with a narrated drive through Haines and historic Fort Seward before returning to the ship.
Please note: Guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Seasonal wildlife updates are e-mailed to the Destinations Office on board the ship.
