Take your experience to the next level by meeting wildlife in a pristine wilderness sanctuary. Explore diverse ecosystems, from rugged coastal cliffs to dense eucalyptus forests, and wildlife (including koalas!).
For this adventurous day, travel to Flinders Chase National Park and visit the spectacular sights of the island on a guided tour. The park's must-sees include beautiful Admirals Arch, shaped by the powerful Southern Ocean. This is a great place for spotting long-nosed fur seals. Then travel to Remarkable Rocks and admire the impressive sight of the sculptured granite boulders. Remarkable Rocks were formed 500 million years by rain, wind and the pounding seas and the collection of granite boulders is fun to explore. Flinders Chase is home to many koalas and your guide will take you to the best locations for you to spot these furry mammals.
After exploring the park, enjoy a relaxed lunch before heading toward the Kangaroo Island Raptor Domain where you get up close some of the most beautiful – and deadly – birds in the world. You may meet Jedda (a majestic wedge-tailed eagle), Casper (the friendly barn owl), or Banjo and Clancy (the laughing kookaburras). Spending 1 hour with these intriguing avian friends is both interactive and educational.
Travel back towards Penneshaw with a stop off at Pennington Bay. Here you will have a chance to take photos of the rugged south coast and Kangaroo Island’s famous surf beach. Along the way back to your ship be sure to look out for the local grey kangaroos lazing under the sheoak.
