Your first stop today will be the tomb of Elefthérios Venizélos, once a dominant figure in Cretan and Greek political life. From here you can enjoy wonderful views over Chania and the White Mountains.
Then, head into Chania, built on the site of the ancient city of Kydonia. According to mythology, this ancient town was built by Kydon, the protector of travelers. Many of the Venetian buildings in the Old Town have been superbly restored, transporting you to the glamour of an earlier age.
Set off with your guide on a walking tour, passing by the cathedral dedicated to Panagia Trimartyri (Virgin of the Three Martyrs), the patron saint of Chania. Take a look at the Mosque of Hassan Pasha, the lighthouse, and the Forteza before carrying on to the Turkish Sector.
Your final stop is at the agora, the marketplace, influenced by the buildings of the 19th century during the Industrial Revolution. Here, you will have free time for a stroll through the romantic Old Town and an opportunity to perhaps pick up a souvenir or enjoy some refreshments (at your own expense) at one of the many coffee houses.
On your way back to the port, stop briefly at the British War Cemetery .
