Welcome to Old Town Québec, where you'll step into a charming European enclave within North America. Led by an experienced guide, you'll travel cobblestone streets, see historic architecture, and discover nearly four centuries of history. This is the only walled city north of Mexico and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Start today's adventure at Place Royale in the Lower Town. The typical stone buildings surrounding this historic square were once the homes of wealthy merchants. Built and rebuilt several times, the square remains the heart of the Lower Town. Around the corner, Petit-Champlain Street provides an array of quaint boutiques, specialty shops and outdoor cafés as well as strolling musicians, jugglers, and street performers.
A funicular ride from the Lower Town to the Upper Town deposits you near Dufferin Terrace, offering a sweeping view of the St Lawrence River, the town of Lévis on the opposite shore, Île d'Orléans, and the Laurentian Mountains. Explore the fortress area, with Place d'Armes, the Québec Seminary, the Ursuline Convent, Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, and the Artists Alley.
Sit down to a very special High Tea at the Château Frontenac -- the best-known landmark in Québec and the very site where Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and William Mackenzie King met to discuss the Allied strategy during World War II. Savor the English-style tea service with a selection of teas, scones, sandwiches, and pastries made by the Château's own chef, presented in an exquisite indoor setting.
Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: This tour requires 2.25 hours. Terrain includes cobblestone streets, uneven surfaces, and inclines. Total distance is approximately 1.5 miles. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
