An ideal tour for nature lovers, trekkers and those who want to experience the real jungle, this excursion is all about searching for a variety of wildlife that can be observed roaming free in the wild.
Sit back and relax on a scenic drive, passing through small villages as you head towards the Tangkoko Nature Reserve -- one of Indonesia's most important conservation areas -- located about 12 miles northwest of Bitung amongst rolling hills and valleys.
Forest rangers accompany you on a trek deep into the jungle in search of a variety of wildlife. Keep your camera at the ready as black-crested macaque (tailless monkeys) and the Tarsius tarsier (the world's smallest primate) are often seen, as well as maleo birds, wild pigs and kuskus (large-eyed marsupials).
At the end of your trek, you will reach a black sandy beach. Enjoy some free time to relax on the beach or take a refreshing swim.
An Indonesian snack box and soft drink refreshments are served before you return to the coach and the ship.
Please note:
Tour requires approximately three hours of walking. Terrain includes uneven surfaces and dirt and gravel paths. The drive to the reserve is approximately 1.5 hours each way. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Bring insect repellent. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Beaching will be based on sea conditions.
