Cognac is not only a great and well-known double-distilled spirit, but it is also a beautiful city. It is situated on the river Charente and much of the town has been built on the river's left bank, with the smaller right bank area known as the Saint Jacques district.
Cognac has been an important center for growing vines, and the production and trading of wine and spirits since the Middle Ages, sending wines as far as Northern Europe and Scandinavia. During the 17th century the trade took a new turn with distillation and the creation of Cognac as we know it today. The subsequent prosperity of Cognac opened new links with the entire world.
After a picturesque drive of approximately 2-hours through the French countryside, you'll arrive at a charming local "brasserie-style" restaurant where you'll relax and enjoy a meal of renowned French cuisine.
After a delightful lunch, you will be welcomed at Hennessy, the world largest seller of Cognac produces, and part of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy), the world’s leading luxury products group.
After a select guided tour that unveils the history, craftsmanship and world of the Hennessy Maison on both sides of the Charente River, slip behind the scenes and unlock the secrets of exceptional cognacs as you step through the doors of the Paradis ageing cellar, where some of Hennessy’s oldest eaux-de-vie are stored.
Continue this select guided tour and learn about the saga and the craft of Hennessy, in a private lounge where you will discover the refined rituals of tasting. Alongside one house expert, in a private lounge, taste some of Hennessy’s finest cognacs: Hennessy "X.O" and "Paradis".
Leaving the distillery behind your guide will take on a walking tour in the old town of Cognac, before heading back to the ship in Bordeaux.
