Depart Trapani and begin the drive to Segesta --the exquisite archaeological site of the capital of ancient Elymian. Called Egesta by the Greeks and Segesta by the Romans, the city was built in the 4th or 5th century BC. Legend holds that this town was founded by Alceste, son of the Trojan Egesta, who hosted Aeneas after the Trojan War.
At Segesta, you will have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Doric Temple, so well preserved it looks as if was just finished yesterday. Segesta's ancient temple can make a valid claim to being the best preserved in the world. Visit the amphitheatre, which is situated on the northern flank of Monte Barbaro.
As the tour concludes, re-board your coach for the return drive to the pier.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes; extensive walking is required over uneven surfaces. An internal public bus will be used to transfer from the temple to the Amphitheatre.
